An Ohio couple was charged in their missing 5-year-old daughter’s death after police found the girl’s beaten body hidden inside the family’s restaurant.

Little Ashley Zhao’s mother, Mingming Chen, was arrested for murder Tuesday, while the tot’s dad, Liang Zhao, faces complicity in the case.

Chen and Zhao reported their daughter missing Monday night and claimed she vanished from their family-owned restaurant, Ang’s Asian Cuisine, in North Canton.

Mingming Chen (l.) and Liang Zhao were arrested for the death of their daughter Tuesday.

The parents told investigators that the girl went into the back of the restaurant round 5 p.m. for a nap, but when her mom went to check on her several hours later, she was gone, WOIO reported.

Police began a state-wide hunt for the missing girl. Investigators combing through the Asian diner found her body “concealed” in the building, near the kitchen’s freezer, police said. They did not elaborate on how Ashley’s body had been hidden.

Police said Chen struck the child several times with her fist on Monday morning, and the injuries she sustained resulted in her death.

Court records don't list attorney information for Chen and Zhao.
