Dr Edith Klein was found dead from a suspected suicide in her surgery along with her six pets today
A vet is believed to have injected her six pets with a fatal dose of drugs before taking her own life at her veterinary surgery this morning.
The body of Dr Edith Klein, 48, the owner and head vet at The Pet Health Care Center in Pelham, Georgia, was found alongside her four dogs and two cats by an employee at 8.30am today.
The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office says a motive for the suicide and deaths of her pets is unclear, although they suspect financial issues involving the business could have played a part.
Pet owners who arrived at the clinic today to buy supplies expressed that shock at what had happened in such a 'quiet place like Pelham.'
One former client Kelli Akridge said a new vets nearby may have taken business away from her.
'She was just new to us and nobody really wanted to give her a chance, but she was really good," said Akridge.
The Pet Health Care Center's website describes Dr Edith Klein as 'a licensed, experienced, skilled and compassionate veterinarian.'
The surgery's Facebook page shows a message from Dr Edith Klein posted on November 22.
It said: 'Happy Thanksgiving to all. Stay safe...and don't allow your pets to convince you that they need to share in the feast. Remember pancreatitis is a debilitating, painful disease process that can be fatal. Again, keep your pets safe and enjoy your day.'
To which one of the page's 52 followers wrote: 'Wonderful place with so so sweet folks! Thank you Edith (Dr. Klein) and Julie !!!! Finally I have a vet I can depend on with great prices and plenty of love !'
Another wrote: 'Dr. Edie is the best vet ever! Here I found the most caring vet and staff ever! :)

Dr Edith Klein's Facebook page shows that she completed her studies at J.Sterling Morton East High School in Cicero, Illinois, in 1983, before taking up her studies at Iowa State University. She lived in Pelham and listed the music of Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand among her favourites.
