A married teacher has been charged with sexual abuse.

Leah Garmany of Centre, Alabama was arrested on Friday for second-degree sexual abuse and electronic solicitation of a child.

Garmany is employed as a kindergarten teacher at Centre Elementary.

Garmany, who is employed as a kindergarten teacher at Centre Elementary, still had her job as of Friday afternoon

District superintendent Mitchell Guice told the Rome News-Tribune that Garmany remains an employee at the school as of Friday afternoon

Garmany, who is married with two young daughters, is now under investigations by the Cherokee County District Attorney's office. 

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver told AL.com that the incidents did not happen at the school but at another residence.

He also said that second-degree sexual abuse occurs when an adult subjects another person to sexual contact who is less than 16-years-old but more than 12-years-old.
